- Creating New Opportunities -
How do we create new opportunities for our IT professionals and businesses? Step one is to nurture our existing "IT ecosystem," making sure our members have easy access to key social and business networks, business and technical support groups, banks, and investment capital. The next step is to create a physical location and a downtown environment where professionals enjoy meeting to discuss new ideas and future innovations; where teams and alliances are formed to help firms grow and compete in the regional and global marketplace.
- Community Goals -
By 2015, our community hopes to consist of 115 small tech companies in downtown Elgin, placing us on the map as a true national resource center for innovation and tech development. ETC works with local universities and tech companies to set up work-shops; such as "How to Start an IT Business" and "How to Market and Grow a Tech Company." Over the next five years we plan to run tech workshops and seminars that will make our community one of the best in the business. Most of our workshops will be at ETC headquarters downtown Elgin. Need a good reason? Here are "10 Reasons to Start a Business This Year" by Rosalind Resnick, from the Wall Street Journal, January 2011.
- Support Groups -
After leaders from existing tech companies joined forces to form an Advisory Council and a non-profit organization to create opportunities for IT professionals and businesses, support has poured in and we are very grateful. We are especially grateful for the support given by the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin, The Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, The Stickland Foundation, State Senator Noland's Office, Elgin Community College, and Judson University.
